What is Online Therapy?

It is a type of therapy in which the counselee and the therapist meet remotely via electronic devices such as computers, tablets and phones. Online therapy has become widespread in the world after the corona period and has become permanent as the internet plays a major role in our daily lives.

It has been a great convenience for those who do not have the opportunity to have a face-to-face session with a therapist after the end of Corona, and for clients who live in big cities and do not want to waste time in traffic for transportation.

Although this form of therapy differs in form, all the ethical rules of face-to-face therapy apply here as well. Just like in face-to-face therapy, only the therapist and the client are present in the therapy setting, and confidentiality is a rule that must always be maintained.

One of the reasons why online therapy has become widespread is that therapy can be done wherever the client or therapist is, wherever they have internet access.

Many disorders such as depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, eating disorders, sleep disorders, test anxiety, adolescent problems, family relationships, sexual problems, loss and grief problems, relational problems, post-traumatic stress disorder can be addressed in online therapy.

Online therapy is not recommended if the person has suicide attempts or thoughts and a tendency to harm others.
