Fear of Death
Death is an abstract and unknown concept. It is one of the most basic fears of people living with the instinct to survive. Religious beliefs have formed some ideas about death and what happens after death.
The fear and anxiety of death is one of the situations that every individual experiences existentially in their lives. However, the level and persistence of anxiety reveals whether it is normal or something that needs to be dealt with. This anxiety is also called tanataphobia, an intense anxiety about death that affects social relationships and turns into a situation that the person cannot cope with.
The reasons for this fear can be thoughts of losing loved ones, loneliness, being punished after death, fear of extinction, leaving loved ones behind and feeling pain when dying.
Although death and life are thought to be completely opposite concepts, death is actually the concept that completes life.
For this reason, seeing death not as a taboo but as a situation that needs to be accepted is one of the steps to be taken to overcome the individual's fear, and one of the details that plays the most important role in its resolution is the confrontation about why such a fear is experienced.
